LSCHC ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
DULUTH, MN -- The Board of Directors for Lake Superior Community Health Center (LSCHC) announced, after an extensive search, Interim-Chief Executive Officer Lee Homan has been selected to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in a permanent capacity.
Prior to joining LSCHC in 2020, Homan served as Director of Business Development for Blue Ridge Health, a community health center near Asheville, NC for seven years. During that time, he participated in and helped lead significant expansion of the community health model across the region, resulting in 12 new practice locations in six additional counties with nearly 30,000 additional patients served in western North Carolina.
In 2020, Homan was hired by LSCHC as Marketing and Business Development Manager and was subsequently promoted to Chief Operations Officer in 2021. He has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer since October 2023.
“Lee brings significant mission-driven operations and business development experience to this role. During his time with our organization, he has demonstrated a passion for the community health model, and a strong commitment to our patients, our mission, and the quality care we provide,” said Bob Lyman, Board Chair for LSCHC. “We are confident he has the drive and expertise necessary to navigate the opportunities and challenges we anticipate in the years ahead.”
During Homan’s tenure with LSCHC, he helped navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, open and expand a new dental practice in Carlton, MN, and open a new 20,000 square foot facility in Superior’s East End.
“Since starting my career in community health I have been convinced our high-quality, patient-centered, universally accessible model is how primary care should be provided,” said Homan. “I am both proud and humbled to step into this role for an organization with such an important role and rich history in our region, and I look forward to working with stakeholders in our community to expand access to services our neighbors need most.”
Homan will assume this role permanently effective immediately, and the organization has already started recruiting a replacement Chief Operating Officer.

Lake Superior Community Health Center (LSCHC) stands for equity and justice for ALL. Born out of the civil rights and social justice movement of the 1960s, Community Health Centers like LSCHC serve as advocates for quality care and health equity for everyone in the communities we serve. For nearly 50 years, LSCHC has advanced this important cause by maintaining and promoting culturally competent values and practices for every one of our remarkable patients and employees.
We prioritize the provision of respectful, inclusive and affirmative care in our region. We recognize that each of us has unique needs requiring equally unique responses. That’s why we maintain the range of experience and expertise necessary to bring health, hope, and peace of mind to all of our patients - no matter their age, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, insurance status or ability to pay.
From the foundational roots of the movement we represent, we are committed to communicating and acting with knowledge and understanding about the distinct health concerns and barriers to care we each face. Because from top to bottom we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be healthy.
