PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  3. Assure all consents and needed equipment are readily available for procedures.
  4. Assure needed documentation is present such as requested by the chiropractor.
  5. Provide direct care to patients and assist chiropractor with clinical procedures consistent with protocols.
  6. Assure patient flow is efficient and patients are redistributed as necessary in order to stay on-time.
  7. Open exam & treatment rooms at beginning of the day and close at end of the day.
  8. Prepare patients for appointment:
  • Assist patient to an exam room.
  • Capture chief complaint.
  • Obtain and document any pre-procedure information as needed.

  2. Maintain radiography equipment according to policy and procedure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receive training to provide in-person enrollment assistance and information on MN Health Insurance Programs
  • Perform basic income screening for all programs, assist clients in completing the applications, advocate on their behalf, and follow-up after application has been sent to the appropriate agency.
  • Meet with new and existing patients to gather information and assess each individual patient’s need for enrollment assistance or additional services provided by LSCHC
  • Provide a warm, interactive, and inviting experience for new and existing patients
  • Set up appropriate referrals with other LSCHC departments, including scheduling these appointments
  • Assist clients in applying for hospital and clinic charity care programs and other charity funds such as: Lion’s Club, Senior Partners Care, etc.
  • Provide internal referrals to those without a regular physician and/or new to the community and in need of health care.
  • Maintain accurate data and statistics on program utilization, client demographics, case outcomes, etc.
  • Provide community outreach and education to inform the targeted population of the program services on the purpose and work of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human service related field or 2-3 years hands on experience working with complex or diverse population

Certified Medical Assistant - Superior, WI

Lake Superior Community Health Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant with Medical Lab Responsibilities for our Superior. WI location.

The Certified Medical Assistant works within the clinical care team to assure quality patient care and to support the goals of Lake Superior Community Health Center. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will perform delegated clinical, clerical, and administrative duties within the supervising physician’s scope of practice consistent with the MAs education, training, and experience. Such duties shall not constitute the practice of medicine. The physician supervision shall be active and continuous, but shall not necessarily require the physical presence of the supervising physician at the time and place that the services are rendered.

Some of the Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Open and close lab according to policy and procedure.
  • Perform phlebotomies independently with minimum 90% accuracy.
  • Perform laboratory tests in-house or send out to reference laboratories as appropriate.
  • Accurately enter lab results into the patient medical record.
  • Scan x-rays, EKGs, and lab results into the patient medical record.
  • Run reports to look for gaps, such as missed visits for laboratory tests, and send reminders to medical staff.
  • Collects and processes specimens.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain lab testing equipment.
  • Comply with CLIA and COLA guidelines and standards.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies.

The Medical Assistant works within the clinical care team to assure quality patient care and to support the goals of Lake Superior Community Health Center. The medical Assistant (MA) will perform delegated clinical, clerical, and administrative duties within the supervising physician’s scope of practice consistent with the MAs education, training, and experience. Such duties shall not constitute the practice of medicine. The physician supervision shall be active and continuous but shall not necessarily require the physical presence of the supervising physician at the time and place that the services are rendered.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a positive, enthusiastic, professional, and proactive member of the Health Care Home team.
  • Assist with pre-visit planning for patients including review of routine labs, preventative services, immunizations, and acquiring supporting documentation from other providers.
  • Participate in team huddles on a daily basis to discuss the daily schedule and anticipate needs for the day.
  • Provide direct care to patients and assist health providers with clinical procedures consistent with protocols.
  • Assure patient flow is efficient, providers are on-time, and patients are redistributed as necessary in order to stay on-time.
  • Look for gaps in care and send reminder letters (i.e. diabetic visits, annual physicals, immunizations, well child visits, and missed visits)
  • Open exam rooms at beginning of the day and close at end of the day.
  • Prepare patients for appointment:
  • MDQ (mood disorder-bipolar)
  • Beck Anxiety Inventory (anxiety)
  • PDQ-II for children ages 6 and under (developmental assessment)
  • Obtain urine specimen for patients with dysuria.
  • Prepare patient and room:
  • Diabetics – feet exposed and monofilament available
  • Female pelvic exam – gowned and pelvic exam supplies available
  • Annual physical – gowned
  • Enter self-reported patient history forms into medical record.
  • Perform EKGs as directed by the provider.
  • Update medical record with completed preventative care (colonoscopy, mammogram, pap, immunizations).
  • Manage patient referrals in conjunction with HIS Clerk, with primary function to assist patient in scheduling initial appointment.
  • Discharge patients.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program; current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential preferred.

Lake Superior Community Health Center is seeking Dental Health Therapists. The Dental Therapist works within the dental care team to assure quality patient care and to support the goals of Lake Superior Community Health Center.

Job Qualifications:

  • Licensed by the MN Board of Dentistry to practice as a Dental Therapist.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree from a board approved or accredited dental therapy education program.

  • Performs dental services as follows with the parameters of the collaborative management agreement under indirect supervision. "Indirect supervision" means the dentist is in the office, authorizes the procedures, and remains in the office while the procedures are being performed by the allied dental personnel.
  • Dispense and administer the following drugs within the parameters of the collaborative practice agreement and within the scope of the practice of the dental therapist:  analgesics (excluding narcotic drugs), anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics.
